Music Ministry

A Word From Carlton Gilmer...
Welcome to Central Assembly of God Music Ministries!   The purpose of the Music Ministries at Central Assembly is to lead the people of this church into a lifestyle of worship.  We want to see people worship the Lord, not only on Sundays, but through the life they live the remainder of the week.  We desire to create an atmosphere in every service that will draw people into the presence of the Lord, and allow Him to minister to their needs through His presence in their lives. Everything that we do centers around that!  If you would like to become an active part of the Music Ministry, in any way, please feel free to contact us at any time!   We would love to get to know you, and connect you to a ministry where you can be effective in building His kingdom.

Areas of Music Ministry
  • Sanctuary Choir .....The sanctuary choir rehearses every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center and every Wednesday after the evening's music in the Worship Center's overflow room.    The choir is a major theme in every church service and also, along with the drama department, participates in the annual Christmas production . . . The Glory of Christmas.

  • Sanctuary Band .....The sanctuary band takes part in every adult worship service.  Anyone interested in becoming a part of the band needs to speak with Pastor Carlton and setup a time to discuss current openings and music ministry guidelines.

  • Worship Team .....Members of the worship team are choir members asked by Pastor Carlton to help him lead the congregation in worship.  The team must attend any special services and rehearsals required above the regular schedule of services and is a vital part of rehearsals by helping to teach parts to the choir.

  • Kingdom Kids' Choir .....The Kids' Choir is assembled during holiday seasons to participate in special productions.  In past years the Kids' Choir has presented such productions as "The Mystery of the Manger - It's the Gospel Truth" and "Angels We Have Heard on High".  Wonderful children's Christmas productions that were enjoyed by the entire church family.

What Is Expected of Me?
Live a holy life at all times!  Psalms 24:3, Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord?   Or who shall stand in His holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.  "Clean hands" are hands free from external acts of sin.   A "pure heart" refers to inward holiness, right motives, and goals.   Matthew 5:8, Only the pure in heart will see God.

Every choir member must be committed to unity with the ministry team!  Unity is essential for effective ministry, but it doesn't happen ally.  It takes work and effort to be unified!  God commands us to be united.
Every choir member must be a member of Central Assembly of God or pursuing church membership.  All members of the choir must be in right standing with the doctrines and teachings of the church.

Every choir member must attend all regularly scheduled rehearsals.  If you cannot be at rehearsal, please let Pastor Carlton know ahead of rehearsal time.

Every choir member will constantly remember that as a choir member, they are assisting the worship leader in leading the congregation in worship.  Be an example!   Remember that you bring joy, faith and excitement about the Lord, your personal testimony, encouragement, and so much more to the "table" in ministering with the choir!
As a courtesy to other members of the ministry team, each choir member should be in their seat at the appropriate rehearsal time.  Excessive tardiness shows a lack of discipline, and this is not in line with the excellence that the Lord deserves.

Every choir member will make every effort to be friendly and hospitable to fellow team members, including first-time visitors.  Enlarge your circle of love!

How Do I Join?
The first step in joining the choir is to come to a rehearsal on Sunday afternoon or Wednesday evening!  There will be someone there to greet you and show you where to go for rehearsal.   After rehearsal, new members will meet with Pastor Carlton for a brief interview.   The purpose of the interview is for Pastor Carlton to meet you, go over choir guidelines, and to help discover your vocal range.
